Holiday 2004 Pt. I

 

The Holiday 2004 collection was a colossal collection that took us back home to old times, and gave us a homemade Holiday feel with brand new home-baked flavors good enough for Grandma’s recipe book. This collection was so special each homespun Smacker had a '2004 Special Holiday Collection' stamp on the bottom of the label commemorating the remarkable moment in time.

Holiday 2004 was the first year since 1998 that the Original collection didn't come together in a tin and keepsake case that we saw in the previous Holiday collections before this. While there was the typical six new flavors, they only came in trio collection bags named Berry Sweet Dreams and Dreamy Denim that could be used as tree decorations and door decor after the season passed. There weren't any trio canes for these either, only in the Holiday 2004 Pet Pals collection.

Berry Sweet Dreams came housed in a decorative door pillow and featured Sugared Spice Cookie, Homemade Strawberry Ice Cream and Hand Dipped Sugar Plum.

The Dreamy Denim collection came tucked away in a denim pocket bag, reminscent of Holiday 2003's theme, with a new design and three brand new lip smackin' flavors; Bakery Berry Pie, Vanilla Whipped Cocoa and Spun Sugar Cotton Candy. This totals up six new sugared Smackers for the Originals but this was only the start. Bonne Bell went all out for Holiday 2004!

Homemade Strawberry Ice Cream- Imagine a creamy, soft serve twist on the original Strawberry flavor. Sweeter and creamier.

Sugared Spice Cookie- Just like a decadent spice cookie fresh from the oven. You get the bakery cookie and cinnamon and spices sprinkled throughout. 

Vanilla Whipped Cocoa- If you ever owned the Mocha Fudge Explosion Lip Shake then this flavor was very familiar. Just like a jamocha milkshake or ice cream. Steeped mocha cocoa with a healthy dollop of vanilla whipped cream and a decadent drizzle of hot fudge on top. 

Spun Sugar Cotton Candy- A warm and welcoming sweetly spun cotton candy. Very different than the original Cotton Candy. This one was more vanilla based and with a simmering sugar accord. 

Bakery Berry Pie- Fresh from the oven, berry pie oozing with blackberries and raspberries melange folded into a beautiful buttery crust. One of my favorites and very close to the Winter Berry Pie Lip Lites flavor.

 

Hand Dipped Sugar Plum- The handpicked Christmas keepsake in every Bonne Bell Holiday collection with the same succulently sweet sugar plum potency everyone loved. 

The label designs featured glittery, shimmery wraps that resembled tinsel and foil wrapping paper with scrapbook-like design touches, like borders and decorative dots giving it that handmade touch. Check out the tubes side-profile featuring the intricate designs and the famous 'Lakewood, OH 44107' that highlighted Bonne Bell's humble neighborly nature on their products for many decades.  

I always loved the tags that come on each Holiday collection that added that special touch and felt like a little special Bonne Bell signature.

The Berry Sweet Dreams and Dreamy Denim trios featured the main Holiday flavors, but there were many other thought out sets that were offered as retailer exclusive sets at Target and Walmart. This even gave us brand spankin' new flavors in some of the other Smackers line-up like Liquid Lip Smacker and Splash 'n Shine!

Pink Nilla Mint

Cherry Berry

Pink Nilla Mint-  Imagine a crystal cool peppermint swirled with the sweetest vanilla. Envision a York Peppermint Pattie but with pink vanilla white chocolate instead of chocolate. A match made in Heaven. 

Cherry Berry- This gave the frosty flavorous fusion of the darkest cherries, sweetest blackberries and ripest raspberries. 

The Holiday Sweets trio card gifted us with Homemade Strawberry Ice Cream and Hand Dipped Sugar Plum Original Lip Smackers and the Pink Nilla Mint Liquid Lip Smacker. 

The Holiday Treats trio surprised us with Bakery Berry Pie and Spun Sugar Cotton Candy Original Lip Smackers and the Cherry Berry Liquid Lip Smacker. 

The perky Pink Nilla Mint duo offered up the cool 'n creamy flavor in both a Liquid Lip Smacker and Splash 'n Shine balm gloss. There was even a Gloss 'n Greeting Card duo with these same two products that came with a Smackers themed Christmas card to send as a gift in either Pink Nilla Mint or Cherry Berry.

Bonne Bell gifted us two super-exciting special edition flavors, Pink Sugar Cookie and Berry Ribbon Candy that came exclusively on carded gift tag singles to top off the perfect handmade gifts.

The gift tag card was extra wide and featured the cutest 'To/From' space to personalize everyone's favorite flavored pucker pleaser for the joyous season!

Berry Ribbon Candy 

Pink Sugar Cookie- Imagine a sweet sugar cookie iced in pink frosting and shimmering icy blue sprinkles on top. This perfectly captured a freshly baked sugar cookie for the sweetest kisses. Bonne Bell knew how to make cookie flavors.

Berry Ribbon Candy-This is one of those flavors BB only used once and you can definitely pinpoint candied raspberry, cranberry, blackberry and possibly blueberry in this beautiful blend. Incredibly unique and one of those flavors I still think about. It even had a glamorous crushed berry candy tint.

The Whirly Girl collection got two new, wondrous limited-edition flavors as well for those glamorous galaxy gala's during the festive season.

Charmed- Whirlin’ Glitz ‘n Glo 

Cotton Candy Spin s’Whirl Gloss- Whirled up a new cotton candy craving, much different than the Original Cotton Candy Lip Smacker and even different than the Spun Sugar Cotton Candy flavor from this same year. Imagine a sweetly spun cloud of berry 'nilla sugar with a touch of magic. Smells slightly familiar but also brand new. 

Candy Cane Kiss Kiss of Color- Clicked up a brand new velvety candy cane concoction of cool peppermint and an ever-so-gentle smooch of a sweet sugar. Very different than Bonne Bell's other Candy Cane's and also not a vanilla mint like Pink Nilla Mint. Merry minty magic here!

Charmed-Whirlin’ Glitz ‘n Glo elevated your iridescence with a pearlized luminosity for your face and body, wherever you want a galaxy glow! The swirled lavender and white came out as a sheer wash of silvery white shimmer with subtle specs and purple glitter, and featured a sweet vanilla aroma for added astonishment.

To end Holiday 2004 pt. I with a juicy jingle, 2004 was already a huge year for BB with the Mars Inc. Starburst and Skittles partnership that launched in the Spring of that year. We got an amazing Starburst tin exclusive with this collection complete with the Lip Smacker block logo and Starburst logo of the times. 

The Flavor Squared tin featured four mouthwatering Starburst candy flavors in their innovative first edition square tubes. Of course, each flavor smelled and tasted exactly like the candy! The tin featured core flavors from the collaboration, one each from Starburst's different flavor varieties that were around in the early 2000's and long gone now, lost to the decades. It looks Fruit & Crème and California Fruits went first and most recently Tropical Fruits. Count me as surprised!
