Holiday 2004 Pt. III: Cosmics

 

Holiday 2004 was one of Bonne Bell's biggest Holiday collections full of some many wondrous surprises! What better way to top of a constellation of a collection then with new Cosmic flavors?! The Cosmic Lips line was an integral part of Bonne Bell by 2004 so it was exciting to see it get its own Holiday collection again.

The Cosmic Lips formula was infused with a starry silver shimmer to give lips extra gleam and gloss that looked festively frosty during the most magical season of the year. The theme was funky, fresh designs of stars, hearts and flowers with the micro-shimmer labels that most of the Holiday 2004 collection had. The look was a little more junior and in-line with designs you'd see on Limited Too apparel at this time.

The famous 'Lakewood, Ohio 44107' stamped on the labels.

Six new snow spun Cosmic Smackers gifted our smiles with a merry mingling of new fruity faves fused together and topped off with snowy shimmer. 

Strawberry Splash- A sweet and splashy strawberry similar to the original Strawberry with extra sweetness and shimmer.

Berry Strawberry Twist- A new BB staple wrapped up in new limited edition Christmas label. This was actually a new twist on this very berry flavor and different than the Whirly Girl version.

Watermelon Whirl- A Bonne Bell staple with a new twist. This was similar to Holiday 2003's Melon Moon but more watermelon focused.

Cherry Vanilla Flash- A tart and creamy cherry vanilla parfait-like flavor. A new take on the Swirl Gloss and Whirly Girl flavor fave. 

Vanilla Berry Heaven- While this sounds like this could be a sister to Berry Heavenly, this was also brand new, like a vanilla cloud blanketing sweet blackberries. Mellow yet marvelous. 

Raspberry Grape Swirl- Imagine a luscious raspberry grape bubble gum that's juicy and addicting! This was my favorite of the bunch!

The Holiday 2004 Cosmics were exclusive to Walmart and only came in twinkling trio bags. They weren't even advertised in the Holiday 2004 ad, like quite a few other sets from this same year. Bonne Bell was definitely playing sneaky Santa in 2004. 😉

The All That Glitters trio bag featured Berry Strawberry Twist, Cherry Vanilla Flash and Watermelon Whirl (above), while the other bag came with Strawberry Splash, Raspberry Grape Swirl and Vanilla Berry Heaven (below).

The 2004 Special Holiday Collection was an incredible capsule of early 2000's Bonne Bell design and flavor aesthetic, proving they could always create an endless universe of exciting new flavors with incredibly fun, festive themes. It's no wonder Bonne Bell Lip Smackers were 'The World's Favorite Flavored Lip Gloss' for so many decades. Love, merrymaking and flavor really is the key to bringing everyone in the universe together and Bonne Bell was onto it lightyears before all other beauty brands followed suit. Bonne Bell drove home the message from their Holiday 2004 ad with 'Holidays just wouldn't be the same with Smackers' and they really haven't been the same without them since 2014. Who knew just 10 years after Holiday 2004 would be the last Bonne Bell Holiday collection in 2014, and now it's hard to believe its already been 10 years since then, making that message hit completely different. ❤️‍🩹
